Meet Ryan, your local tech help
Eastbourne born, London trained, back home by the sea. Sussex Tech Rescue is run by me alone. When you ring, you speak to me, and when the doorbell goes, it's me. No call centre and no automated menus.
The story so far
I grew up in Eastbourne, as well as Glasgow, Billericay and Bexhill. Like a lot of people, I then moved to London for work and stayed for 13 years. There I built websites, looked after computer systems and led technical teams for organisations such as Barclays, British Airways and HSBC.
In all, I've worked in IT for more than 25 years. The sea kept calling, though, and eventually we moved back. Now I live here with my family and our cockapoo, and on a good day you'll find me sea swimming or walking on the South Downs.
Technology is now part of everyday life: the doctor, the bank, the shopping, keeping in touch with family. Plenty of people don't need a salesperson or a helpline. They need someone patient who'll explain things properly and never make them feel silly. That's what I offer.

- A BSc in Multimedia Computing.

- Still learning. Technology changes constantly, so I keep my knowledge up to date.
You get the know-how of someone who has looked after systems for major banks and airlines, explained calmly and clearly in your own home.
The Sussex Tech Rescue rules
- Honest. If something isn't worth fixing, I'll say so. If it's a five-minute job, you only pay for half an hour, not a whole one. If it just needed restarting, I'll tell you.
- Patient. No jargon, no rushing, and as many questions as you like.
- Fully DBS checked. You can feel at ease having me in your home, or your parents' home.
- Careful with your things. I've spent years responsible for keeping data safe, and I treat your photos, emails and accounts with the same care.
- Local. This is home. You'll see the same friendly face every time.
